Mission
Our primary mission is to be a department where scientific production is carried out according to universal criteria, taking into account the changes and needs of today's world, an educational programme and understanding that believes in the inseparability of theoretical knowledge and practice, and in this direction, academic accumulation is created and transmitted to students, and all existing opportunities are used for students to acquire knowledge, skills and experience. An important part of our mission is to train sociologists who are capable of analysis and understanding of social changes and transformations at global and local levels, who have knowledge, ideas and sensitivity to the fundamental problems of our time, who have high intellectual and critical capacity, and who can contribute to the production of academic knowledge on the basis of interdisciplinarity with other stakeholders for the identification and solution of social problems.
Vision
Our department's aim is to extend this to every stage of the educational process, through an educational programme and an understanding of education that prioritises the acquisition of theoretical knowledge, methodological skills and application skills by students. Furthermore, the department strives for an understanding of education that is continuously updated, takes account of changes and new needs, and increases the employment opportunities of its students upon graduation. As well as contributing to sociological knowledge through academic activities with a strong application pillar, such as research projects, social responsibility projects and field studies, the School aims to create a culture and academic climate which enables students to develop a research identity, to experience the research process and working as part of a team, and to improve their application abilities to a high standard.
