There are four departments in our Faculty. Department of Applied Sociology: The Department of Applied Sociology is concerned with the study of social problems. Applied sociology involves determining, surveying, observing and other scientific techniques for collecting information about social problems and conditions. With these methods, social problems are given a sociological explanation in a scientific environment. The Department of Applied Sociology at our university is headed by Prof. Dr. Bülent Şen, Head of the Department of Sociology. Department of General Sociology and Methodology: Sociology is the awareness of societies about their own history and society. It does this through certain definitions and theories. For this reason, sociology is the most controversial science in terms of its own explanations and scientific identity. Sociology is enriched by every new theory or view. The Department of General Sociology and Methodology discusses the definitions and theories that have emerged in sociology from the perspective of the history of Turkish society. Ece Didem Çelik is a research assistant in the Department of General Sociology and Methodology at our university. Department of Institutional Sociology: This department conducts research on social institutions such as the family, the economy, politics and religion. Department of Social Structure and Change: Sociology is a science that studies the structure of society and the processes of change and development associated with that structure. The main subject of sociology is society and the facts and events related to society. Sociologists try to reveal the principles and rules that determine the social relations brought about by social life, the origins and development of social institutions by studying historical documents, conducting field research with techniques such as observation, interview and survey with sociological knowledge.
